Board of Directors
The Lupine Community Montessori Charter School is organized as a nonprofit organization under the laws of Oregon and under section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code.
As such, the School is managed by a Board of Directors, which is responsible for strategic planning, school policy, financial oversight, ensuring the organization adheres to ethical and legal standards, and ensuring compliance with the Charter Agreement between the School and the Gresham-Barlow School District.
Additionally, the Board hires the Executive Director to develop the programs and carry out the School’s day-to-day operations. The Executive Director attends all Board meetings as an ex-officio member, reports on school operation and submits strategic recommendations.
Public Meetings
Board meeting dates and agendas are posted on the master School Calendar. Our parent community and the public are welcome to attend all meetings. All board activities are strictly subject to the State of Oregon’s open meeting and public records laws.

Alex joined the LCMCS Board of Directors after being an active, dedicated member of the school community for seven years. Beginning her journey as a parent volunteer, she has extensive hands-on experience coordinating community events, leading student initiatives, and organizing school fundraisers and spring festivals.
Professionally, Alex brings more than a decade of administrative and project management expertise, working as an Executive Assistant and Print Production Manager across both educational and nonprofit sectors. Her background also includes over five years of experience working directly alongside executive boards as a corporate secretary, providing her with a solid foundation in nonprofit governance. Outside of her board responsibilities, Alex serves as a local Girl Scout leader and enjoys graphic design, reading, and crafting.

Matt brings a profound long-term commitment and deep organizational history to the LCMCS Board of Directors, having served the school community across multiple eras of its growth. A resident of Boring, Oregon, Matt previously served a distinguished tenure as School Board Chair during the school’s formative years, successfully leading the organization through critical structural milestones—including major charter renewals and program expansions with the Gresham-Barlow School District.
Returning to executive leadership as Vice-Chair, Matt leverages his extensive background in board governance, policy planning, and strategic oversight to ensure the school’s long-term sustainability. He is passionate about preserving high-fidelity Montessori education and providing stable, visionary leadership that honors both the history and the future of the LCMCS community.

Brian’s history with the school began when he was recruited to serve on the LCMCS Finance Committee. During that tenure, he and his wife, Kim Kelly, fell in love with the school’s community and educational mission, leading them to enroll their daughter, Kiana, in the Children’s House preschool program. Kiana subsequently entered the charter school as a kindergartener and is currently an elementary student in the Oregon Trail Classroom.
Brian originally joined the Board of Directors in June 2017 and served until 2022, before rejoining the Board in July 2025. Throughout his time on the Board, Brian has served in each of the officer positions, helping guide the organization through its charter renewals and community expansion initiatives.
Brian holds a Juris Doctorate from the Northwestern School of Law at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Policy and Biology from Northland College in Ashland, Wisconsin. He spent years serving as a plaintiff’s litigation attorney across both the public and private sectors, working primarily in administrative and environmental law. After leaving the practice of law (he now jokingly refers to himself as a “recovering lawyer”), Brian transitioned into policy advocacy and lobbying for several environmental and conservation organizations, eventually serving as the Executive Director of the Oregon Chapter of the Sierra Club.
Today, Brian operates a local creative business as a Certified Professional Photographer and owner of Brian Pasko Photography LLC. Remaining involved in public service and community building, Brian has previously served as the Chair of the Clackamas County Planning Commission and as President of the Boring-Damascus Community Connection, a local non-profit organization dedicated to promoting social, educational, and service opportunities. He enjoys bridging the gap between school leadership, families, and the broader community to support the long-term vision of LCMCS.

Verelle is the Board Secretary for LCMCS and brings more than 15 years of experience in graphic design, including a decade running her own studio. She partners with mission‑driven organizations to create thoughtful visual identities, digital and print collateral, and engaging presentations.
Her work with major brands, environmental nonprofits, and small businesses reflects her strengths in detail‑oriented execution, organized project management, and collaborative problem‑solving — all of which contribute to effective board governance.
Outside of her professional duties, Verelle enjoys snowboarding, cycling and painting, and is passionate about making high-quality preschool accessible and affordable for all families. She also enjoys traveling with her husband and two children, both LCMCS students.

Elisabeth joined the LCMCS Board of Directors with a deep personal commitment to the school, where her own children have attended and thrived. She brings a wealth of professional expertise in business operations, human resources, and financial management, with extensive experience as an office manager and full-charge bookkeeper.
In addition to her professional background, Elisabeth has over a decade of nonprofit governance experience, having previously served as both Secretary and Board Chair for Sound Equine Options, where she helped guide the organization through significant long-term growth and strategic policy development. Outside of her professional and board duties, Elisabeth loves spending time outdoors with her children, frequently volunteering at the baseball field, and enjoying hiking, camping, and fishing.
